Functie

The Department of Clinical Child and Family Studies has a job opening for an Assistant Professor. The position is embedded within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences and contains a combination of teaching (70%) and research (30%).
 
The prospective Lecturer will be involved in both Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, in particular the UU Bachelor’s Pedagogische Wetenschappen and Master’s programmes Clinical Child and Family Studies. The Lecturer will also supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and may be assigned coordination and tutoring tasks. Although the emphasis will be on academic teaching, the Lecturer will also be involved in the research activities of our department.
 
Teaching concerns our Bachelor’s programme ‘Pedagogische wetenschappen’, as well as our Master’s programmes ‘Clinical Child, Family and Education Studies (CCFES)’ and ‘Youth, Education and Society  externe link‘ and our Research Master’s ‘Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence(DASCA)’.

The Department of Clinical Child & Family Studies carries out research that can contribute to support parents raising their children, to obtain answers that may be incorporated into municipal policy, to develop and optimize diagnostic tools such as questionnaires and tests, to elaborate on early prevention and treatment programmes, and to study their effectiveness.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who subscribes to the values above and meets the requirements below:

  • You have affinity with clinical work, experience with clinical work and preferably, but not necessarily, are registered as ‘Orthopedagoog-Generalist, Gz-psycholoog or Klinisch Psycholoog’.
  • You are a team player and have strong interpersonal skills for building contact with colleagues and students.
  • You hold (or are working on) a PhD degree in the field of clinical child, family and education studies, developmental psychology, or a similar or related field.
  • You hold a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are willing to acquire one soon.
  • You have experience and skills in academic teaching.
  • Experience in developing and coordinating academic courses is an asset.
  • You are scientifically creative and productive, as is evident from recent publications in international peer-reviewed journals or peer-reviewed conferences.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English at an academic level.
  • You are willing to learn Dutch if necessary. We believe that understanding and speaking Dutch makes it easier to connect with colleagues. We offer free Dutch language courses.

  • We offer a position (0.6 FTE) for a period of one year. After a positive evaluation, the appointment will be made permanent.
  • The gross monthly salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience – ranges between €3,746 and €5,826, based on full-time employment (scale 11/12 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities);
  • The salary is supplemented with an annual holiday bonus of 8%, and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%;
